for my sister’s 21st birthday, I knew I wanted to make jello shots to have on hand at the party house. full disclosure, I had never made jello shots before. weird, right? I also wanted to find a flavor that everyone would like, not too fruity but also something that tasted good enough to have several jello shots and not get tired of the taste. I settled on cherry lemonade and got rave reviews! the lemon balances out the cherry and makes the perfect flavor. now I’m kind of obsessed with jello shots and want to make more 🙂
-1 (6oz.) pack of cherry jello
-1.5 cups of lemon citrus flavored vodka
-1/2 cup lemon juice (about 3-4 hand-squeezed lemons)
-2 cups boiling water
-1/2 cup cold water
–2 oz. cups with lids
–mini spoons, if you want 🙂
- bring 2 cups of water to a boil.
- once water boils, turn off the heat – add in the jello powder and stir until dissolved.
- in a separate bowl, add the freshly squeezed lemon juice to the 1/2 cup of cold water. then stir into jello mixture.
- add the vodka and stir.
- finish off by pouring into small cups with lids, refrigerate at least 2-4 hours.
I like to make them the day before so they are all ready to go, you can also travel with them in ziploc bags in a cooler with ice to keep them cold. I’ve linked all the products I used below, if you don’t have a citrus juicer – you have to get one. I actually use it all the time. enjoy!
