I am definitely still recovering from thanksgiving and am sadly watching this vacation week dwindle down to just saturday and sunday. why does it always go by so fast?! we had a wonderful thanksgiving this year, celebrating with both of our families and we also hosted some friends for dessert as well. our thanksgiving table was totally dictated by black candlesticks that my mom wanted to use. I found some pretty flowers at trader joe’s that matched perfectly!
how perfect are these blooms for black candlesticks?
as always, we each wrote what we are thankful for and then the cards are randomly handed out for other people to read aloud. we guess who wrote each card, which is usually pretty funny.
another thanksgiving tradition is that my mom always gets us kids an ornament each year. this year, I got a sweet little squirrel which goes perfectly on our tree.
twice baked potatoes, oh my gosh, right?
my sister made new macaroni and cheese recipe and a green bean casserole, we also had creamed corn and brown sugar glazed carrots.
I usually make my sweet potato casserole but since I already made that for friendsgiving this year, I wanted to try something new: roasted vegetables. they turned out very good and I’ll share the recipe soon!
dessert always takes centerstage at our house and this year was no different. we had pumpkin spice cookies, blondie brownies, carrot cake, pumpkin cheesecake pie, chocolate pudding pie, and bread pudding. I don’t think I’m forgetting anything 🙂 after dessert, my dad made his boozy coffee drinks and we sat outside around the fire with family and friends. a perfect thanksgiving for us – I hope that you had a wonderful holiday as well!
did you make something special this year or try a new recipe? what’s your favorite thanksgiving dish?
